Through a grant from the Minnesota State Legislature in 1999, video copies of a number of past episodes of the Northern Lights series were distributed to public libraries, schools and universities throughout the state; some may still be available for public checkout or viewing.  A couple dozen episodes on DVD are available for checkout from the Hennepin County Library's Central Minneapolis Library.

Program Episodes on Television:
The Northern Lights TV series was one of the first primetime television series shown regularly on Metro Cable Network/Cable Channel 6 throughout the Twin Cities metro area.  The series was broadcast from 1988 until 2002.  The programs were also shown concurrently on other metropolitan cable systems.   Later, rebroadcasts were shown on ED's TV ~ the West Metro Educational Cable Channel operated by Wayzata Public Schools and shown throughout the western metropolitan area on cable television until 2017.
